San Pedro, California — Saturday, July 26, 2025
The Grand Annex Music Hall in San Pedro came alive with energy as fans, dignitaries, and creative collaborators gathered for the premiere of The Final Round, the deeply personal documentary executive‑produced by Alan Santana.
Among the attendees were local leaders, youth mentors, boxing insiders, and community figures who came to honor Santana’s journey—both in the ring and beyond.
🥊 Alan Santana’s Boxing Legacy
Alan Santana is a true boxing figure—starting to train at age 8 and compiling over 200 amateur bouts, including state and national titles for California/USA Boxing between 1982 and 1984. He turned professional in the late 1980s and held a record of 8‑1‑1, before a serious car accident abruptly ended his rising pro career.
While Santana did not hold a world championship title, he remains intimately connected to the sport. He serves on the Executive Board of the Boxing Hall of Fame, is an international boxing judge, and contributes actively as a North American coordinator for the World Boxing Foundation and for the American Boxing Organization.
In short, he is very much a Hall of Famer— through his deep contributions as a steward, commentator, judge, mentor, and executive in preserving boxing’s legacy and supporting its athletes.
🌟 A Man Beyond the Ring
After retiring from competition, Santana pivoted to business, founding Bay Cities Paving Company in 1989. He authored the book UNPROTECTED: A Tactical Approach to Boxing, Business and Life, blending the lessons of sport with practical business survival advice—especially aimed at fighters navigating life inside and outside the ring.
He also established No Teen Riders, Inc., a non‑profit dedicated to preventing teen driving accidents through education and awareness. As a commentator, speaker, and influencer, Alan continues empowering youth and retired boxers, advocating for better financial and health protections in the sport.
🎥 Premiere Highlights
Guests walked the red carpet in style, greeting Santana personally as photos captured the moment. Inside, the premiere kicked off with a screening of The Final Round, followed by a heartfelt Q&A with Santana and the creative team. He emphasized, “This story is for the underdogs… anyone who’s ever refused to quit.”
The documentary explores Santana’s early passion for boxing, his pro journey cut short by injury, and his subsequent reinvention as a business leader, author, and community advocate. Its message—resilience, reinvention, giving back—echoed powerfully throughout the evening.
