Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma's track, "Ella Baila Sola," has officially crossed the one billion streams milestone on Spotify as of Sunday, December 3, making it the first-ever música mexicana song to achieve this feat, according to confirmation from Spotify to Billboard Español.
Originally released on April 1 as part of Eslabon Armado's album "Desvelado" via DEL Records, the song had already etched its place in history by reaching No. 4 on the all-genres Billboard Hot 100, maintaining its position for an impressive 23 weeks. Furthermore, it dominated various charts, securing the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 for six consecutive weeks, Hot Latin Songs for 19 weeks, and Latin Airplay for one week.
Expressing their gratitude, Eslabon Armado took to Instagram, saying, "Happy and blessed we woke up today, Sunday, with this, and all thanks to God and you for making it possible for the song to reach a billion."
In "Ella Baila Sola," Eslabon Armado's frontman and songwriter, Pedro Julian Tovar Oceguera, weaves a captivating narrative about two close friends enchanted by a mesmerizing woman at a gathering. While the inspiration behind the track remains mysterious, Oceguera's storytelling prowess shines through. Rooted in the sierreño tradition, the song is infused with enchanting borderland slang, capturing the essence of both Mexican and Mexican-American cultures.
Adding to its accolades, the música mexicana hit secured the 12th position on Billboard Latin and Billboard Español's list of The 50 Best Latin Pop Songs From 2000 to 2023, Ranked. The track also earned the group a Latin Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Notably, both acts performed it together for the first time at the award show held in Seville, Spain, this year.
